Latest Sighting: 08/10/20 – Wing tag P0 was amongst thirty three kites which dropped into the roost in Pontburn Wood, near Hamsterley Hall. This is the only sighting of this bird since fledging.

Latest Sighting: 04/11/20 - Wing tag P3 was identified from a photograph taken from above the Feldon Burn on the B6278 Edmondbyers to Stanhope road. P3 was “playing” (talon grappling and swooping) with two other kites, one of those was also tagged.

A calling Kite and a wing tagged juvenile on the 23rd July and a pair with a juvenile on the 31stJuly near the nest site could have been P9or its sibling S0.

Brief Summary: Wing tag S0 can only be identified from a visual sighting. WTS0 was one of a brood of two chicks from a nest built in a Larch tree. S0’s sibling is P9. Brief Summary: Wing tag S1 is one of a brood of four chicks from a nest built in a Scots Pine. Its three siblings were too small to wing tag and were ringed only. A brood of four is very unusual, this is only the third since breeding began in 2006. A work glove, a woolly hat and a dishcloth were found in the nest.
08/10/20 – Wing tag S1 was one of thirty three kites which dropped into roost at Pontburn Wood, near Hamsterley Hall.
23/11/20 – S1 identified whilst with three other kites at Eddy’s Bridge near Derwent Reservoir.
05/01/22: - Wing tag S1 was identified at a pre roost gathering at Southfild Farm, Pontburn Valley,near Medomsley. There were 70 other kites present.
09/01/22 - Wing tag S1 was identified at a pre roost gathering near Hamsterley Mill in the Pontburn Valley, There were 73 other kites present.
16/01/22 - Wing tag S1 was identified at a pre roost gathering near Hamsterley Mill in the Pontburn Valley. Sixty nine kites roosted in the area that evening.
17/01/22 - Wing tag S1 was identified from a photograph taken from the Pontburn Viaduct on the Derwent Walk whilst the bird was flying over Hamsterley Mill. There were nine other kites present.
Latest Sighting: 23/01/22 - Wing tag S1 was identified at a pre roost gathering of red kites near Hamsterley Mill in the Pontburn Valley. Circa sixty one kites roosted in the area that evening.

Brief Summary: Wing tag S2 can only be identified from a visual sighting. WTS2 is one of a brood of three from a nest built in an Oak tree situated in the garden on a residential estate. One of its siblings is WTS3. The other chick was too small to wing tag and was ringed only. A golfing glove and a hanging basket lining were found in the nest.
27//06/20 –A neighbour immediately west of nest site reports S2 on ground but the juvenile was seen to fly away some time later.
01/07/20 - S2 was noted back in the nest after it was seen grounded a few days previously.
26/01/2021- S2 was identified from a photograph taken near Sherburn Park housing estate, Rowlands Gill.
16/03/21 - S2 photographed over the fields and housing estate between Thornley Kennels and Sherburn Park Drive, Rowlands Gill,. S2 was carrying a “chicken drumstick”, and wing tag D4 was in attendance.
29/03/21 - Wing tag S2 was seen and photographed “interacting” with an untagged bird over the fields above Sherburn Towers Estate, Rowlands Gill.
21/04/21 – positive sighting of wing tag S2, firstly at Far Pastures, Lockhaugh, then on his usual stomping ground off Hollinhill Lane. Rowlands Gill. So, staying very close to his natal site. He is still very feisty either chasing off or practicing his flirting. He is very vocal and will interact with every kite that comes near.
31/08/21 - S2 was identified from a photograph taken whilst the bird was flying over fields between Byermoor and Marley Hill. It was seen interacting with an untagged kite.
Latest sighting: 26/05/22 - Wing tag S2 was identified whilst perched in a tree on the Hobson golf course near Burnopfield.

28/06/20 – A “semi fledged” S3 was seen “flapping around nest tree canopy”.
13/08/20 – Wing tag S3 was identified from a photograph taken in Greenside.
09/11/20 – S3 was identified from a photograph taken in Rowlands Gill.
Latest Sighting: 30/05/21 – wing tag S3, was Identified from a photograph taken near Muggleswick. The bird appeared to have been shot at, there was a tail feather missing and half of one of the primary feathers on the right wing was also missing
